Tips & Shortcuts
For Cleaner Presentations
Start by hiding layers. Turn off Minor Roads, Railways, Road Labels, Water Labels, Neighborhoods, and POIs. This is the single biggest improvement for most maps.
Use Focus Mode for country maps. It masks everything else automatically, producing much cleaner results than just zooming in.
Use the Finance theme. It makes ALL roads invisible, leaving only boundaries and labels. The most aggressive "data-only" look.
Set marker outline to ON. The white border (22% of the radius for circles, 18% for squares, 15% for stars) helps markers stand out on both light and dark backgrounds.
For Better Exports
Always use Hi-Res PNG. It re-renders from vector tiles at up to 4× resolution. Genuine sharpness, not upscaling.
Use transparent backgrounds. Check "Transparent background" before exporting. Your map composites cleanly onto any slide color.
Use per-view dataset visibility. Create one view showing all datasets, another showing only primary locations. Export both for different slides.
The crop preview is your friend. Always check "Preview crop frame" before saving a view to verify nothing important is cut off.
For Speed
Include lat/lon in CSVs. Skips geocoding entirely. No rate limits, no delay.
Set a Project ID on the Project tab. It becomes the export filename prefix (falling back to the project name if you leave it blank). Saves manual renaming.
Your work auto-saves. Changes save to your account as you go; the header badge shows "Saved" once they're stored.
